Chrissy Deiger - photography; mixed media; sculpture

   Email:
chrissydeiger@gmail.com

   Visit:  www.ChrissyDeiger.com

Chrissy's photographic work explores the natural world through movement and unique vantage points. She looks for what creates and spirit and character of different places, and aims to illustrate how these are often indistinguishable from our personal experiences. Her artistic philosophy lies in the millions of pivotal moments of our life experience, the essence of our memory, and the strength of our natural surroundings.  A few of her sculptural pieces incorporate natural materials such as branches and bark, and she has recently begun experimenting with photo transfers onto paper, tile, and wood.

Sandra Difazio - oil; watercolor
   Email:
davdif@provide.net

A traditional oil artist and avid plein air painter, Sandra
combines the intricacies of composition and technique with what she sees, what she loves, and what she knows from her own experiences.
The surface of her work is a varying impasto of color applied over a toned canvas. Some edges are blended to create subtle gradations of color while vivid or bright colors are placed next to one another over deeper richer hues. Nature and Life have taught Sandy many lessons
and every new painting is a journey for her to discover more facets of
their elusive beauty. It is Sandy's hope that, through her work, she
may joyfully share her reverent admiration of nature's awesome and
eternal beauty and the essence of human character.

Jayna Eckler - watercolor; oil
   Email:

Jayna Eckler has come to her “painting career" late in life and jokes about her wish to be the reborn Grandma Moses. After years of horses and all that consists of and then a career of interior design with specialization in historic restoration and owning and operating a restaurant and an antique shop along with restoring a condemned train depot, she has been selling real estate in the Ann Arbor area for 30 years. So even though she has always had an interest in and a dabbling in art for the whole of these years, she is now concentrating on her water colors and oils as well as an occasional mixed media. She has only recently begun to show her work and is currently doing so at the Chelsea Art in the Clock Tower Commons shows on Thursday nights, as well as the Chelsea Art Center show on the 27th and 28th of July. She lives in Chelsea and enjoys the smaller quieter community with good proximity to the world of Ann Arbor with wonderful friends and fellow artists in both places.

Judy Enright - oil; watercolor; woodcut prints

Email:
judyenright@sbcglobal.net

   View:  www.JudyEnright.com

Judy's art is a construct of ideas derived from many sources to present insights into universal truths, and explore the concept of paradox in our ever-expanding world. These original oil paintings represent modern folklore developing a new mythology. Most series include a musical theme, while all the series show her view of our inner-kinship. The aim is to educate the spirit of our age that transcends language and religious barriers, to help viewers of every background and walk of life develop and strengthen their inner vision and recognize beauty in unfamiliar contexts.

Susan Falcone - watercolor

Email:
sfalcone@umich.edu

Susan, an Ann Arbor native, has been a naturalist and painter since childhood. Her watercolors of birds, small mammals, wildflowers and insects reflect her lifelong research, observations and field studies of nature. Her subjects are portrayed within a small part of their natural environment, focusing on composition, color, and shape. A tangent is the adaptation and incorporation of Celtic designs into some of her compositions.

Susan's award-winning works are painted mainly using "glazing" - numerous transparent layers of pigment which produces the resulting glowing colors. Of special interest to her are the songbirds and marsh birds, particularly herons, that frequent southeast Michigan, including her own rural property on Frains Lake, where she provides diverse habitats for local wildlife, and where plantings of native wildflowers attract songbirds, hummingbirds, and butterflies.

Susan contributes many of her works to habitat, wildlife, and charitable organizations for fundraising, and is often a guest artist at these events. Her illustrations appear in nature-oriented publications, and her original work can be found in national and international private and corporate collections.

Recently she has been exploring abstract design in a series of work using sheep as her models. These works have gained a popular response in the area and are being shown in the Chelsea Gallery. Her work has been included in many national juried shows and includes signature membership in the Pennsylvania Water Color Society. Nancy’s work is published in the book, Best of Water Color, Painting Color by Rockport Press.

Karen K. Gallup - assemblage sculpture; collage

Email:  karengallup@karengallup.com

   Visit:  www.KarenGallup.com

Karen Gallup adapts common and uncommon found objects and materials as metaphors for human attributes. Her fabricated and constructed "people" are manifestations of her whimsical way of exploring the three-dimensional world.

"My purpose with my work is to bring a smile to the viewer, to have them see everyday objects in a new way, to recycle and to entertain myself."

Gallup has an MFA in metalsmithing and design from Cranbrook Academy of Art and is retired from the College of Creative Studies where she was a professor of Jewelry and Metalsmithing. She maintains a studio in her home in Ann Arbor.

Barbara W. Gilbert - acrylic; watercolor; collage

Ava Gilzow - pastel

Email:

Barbara is a contemporary realist who likes to experiment with new
ways of presenting still life, landscapes and portraits. Behind her work are thoughts about the true nature of reality, consciousness and dimensions that we're not totally aware of, but suspect of existing. Barbara has spent her career as a graphic designer and illustrator doing work that was assigned to her, but is now finally giving herself permission to do her own thing. She exhibits her work in juried and non-juried shows, as well as regional galleries. Barbara likes to experiment in several mediums, but currently specializes in colored pencil. She teaches adult art classes in colored pencil techniques, and is a published illustrator and graphic designer with clients including the University of Michigan Press among others. She received a BS with honors in Fine Art from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a featured artist in their alumni directory, and she is a board member of the Ann Arbor Women Artists (serving as newsletter editor), the Colored Pencil Society of America and the Detroit Colored Pencil Chapter 104.

Marcelle (Marcy) Gray - oil; pastel; watercolor

Email:
marcygray123@yahoo.com

The complexity of the human body and face has never failed to challenge and intrigue Marcelle whether she is working in pastels, oil or watercolor.  Behind each painting there always exists a story that needs to be told.  The slightest gesture of the model denotes a wealth of subtle emotion.  In attempting to capture that small gesture Marcelle is involved in a process of discovery that requires the greatest sincerity as well as the greatest humility that she can give.
